Welcome
A Brief introduction :-
Hypnosis is not "The Answer" to all of your problems. It is a tool, and a part of our natural inbuilt resources to help us deal with issues in our lives. For many people, it certainly can cure, or at least assist, but no guarantees should ever be stated or implied as it does not suit absolutely everyone. Hypnotic trance is established to bypass our conscious filtering processes, and to resynthesise our experiences and skills to into more beneficial applications, via planned clinical methods, and your own new subconscious methods.
Styles vary greatly between different practioners. Hidden commands, metaphors, directive or permissive instruction, language patterns, rapport methods and many other tools and approaches are used. Ethics relate directly to how and why each is used, and the respect shown to the client's mind.
If you feel intimidated or detect a lack of respect for your mind or well-being, simply walk out.
Benefits of Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a drug free method of helping you help yourself. A Hypnotherapist acts as the go-between between your conscious and subconscious minds, using trance as a tool to allow this to occur quickly and efficiently. When used skillfully and ethically, no negative side effects occur in the client.
The mind can control not only our thoughts, desires, stress, habits and psychosis, but also our physiological aspects. Occurrence and severity of epilepsy can be reduced, physical symptoms and chronic disease can be diminished or eliminated, pain can be turned off. Many diseases originate from memories and stress that are negative. By treating the cause of the problem instead of masking the symptoms our bodies and minds can achieve freedom and peace as we were meant to.
So, what is a hypnotherapist ?
We are simply educated negotiators to work between your conscious and subconscious. We take what you want to achieve consciously, and present it to your subconscious, making sure it agrees with what you want, and is safe to do so. We use safeguards to provide only positive effects, which tends to be lacking in some Stage Hypnotists and some improperly (hypnosis) trained professionals.
Formal Recognition of Hypnosis
In 1949, the Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis was formed in the U.S., to become an international society with worldwide membership just ten years later. During the 1950's, both the British and American Medical Associations recognised hypnosis in policy statements, as a legitimate treatment method for application in medicine and dentistry. It was a number of years before psychology was legitimised in the same way.
